Diabetic retinopathy occurs when diabetes damages capillaries within your retina. This event may initially pass unnoticed. Symptoms include
- Double or blurry or vision
- Rings, flashing lights or blank spots
- Floating or dark spots
- Eye pain or pressure
- Reduced peripheral vision
If you have been diagnosed with diabetes it is imperative that you have a comprehensive eye exam annually by a licensed optometrist. Early identification and treatment of diabetic retinopathy may save your vision.
